Designed for passionate dog lovers, our hands-on training takes place in our state-of-the-art facility, where you’ll learn directly from our expert groomers and carers. From Chihuahuas to Chow Chows, you’ll gain real experience working with a wide variety of breeds and take the first step towards turning your love of pups into your dream career!

We’ve tailored our courses to ensure that dogs are at the centre of everything. When you qualify with us, you won’t just understand the theory behind grooming a Poodle or how to handle senior dogs at daycare. You’ll have real, hands-on experience to back it up.
Expert-Led Training: You’ll receive training from experienced groomers and daycare leaders who have years of experience caring for and grooming all different types of pups. Not only will you be taught how to groom different breeds or carry out a daycare assessment, but we’ll also take you through common doggy behaviour so you know how to deal with boisterous, shy or anxious pups and put them at ease.
Hands-On Experience: When we started designing our dog grooming and doggy daycare course in Melbourne, we knew that practical experience was one of the key parts. Too many other daycare and grooming courses rely heavily on theoretical knowledge, and time spent around dogs, clippers or balls in hand, is kept to a minimum.
We want our trainees to become confident and comfortable handling dogs from day one. Learning to recognise and feel different coat types, textures, and even common lumps and bumps is essential to developing the key skills every good dog groomer needs. Likewise, daycare attendants must learn to recognise different behaviours so they can keep dogs safe and happy.
Small Group Sizes: Larger groups naturally mean less one-on-one time with the dogs, and your trainer will have less time to focus on you individually. As we’ve already mentioned, having hands-on experience is of the utmost importance to us, so we offer a 1 trainer to 2 student ratio!
Purpose Built Facilities: At The Dog Dazzlers, we’re known for our purpose-built facility. Whether you’re bringing your pup in for a trim or to doggy daycare, our dog-designed warehouse is the perfect place for pups to relax in a safe and fun setting.
Pet First Aid: As well as this, both our dog grooming course and dog daycare attendant course will give you pet first aid training so you know how to best handle any little incidents that may come up when working with pups.
It’s also ideal for you to learn how to be a great dog groomer or daycare assistant in a real salon or daycare facility. We use the latest tools and techniques in our grooming sessions and courses to give us a cutting edge!
The only thing we require is a love for dogs! The rest you’ll learn on this fun and intensive course. It is worth noting that whilst this is a beginner friendly course, you will definitely benefit from having basic animal handling experience. If you don’t have any animal handling experience – our dog daycare attendant course is actually perfect for this.

Basic and Advanced Grooming Techniques: Basic techniques that we’ll cover include bathing, brushing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and sanitary and paw trims, through to full body grooming that’s safe and effective.
Safe Handling of Dogs: Safety is always of the utmost importance at our dog groomers, daycare and grooming courses. We’ll teach you how to use the equipment correctly, handle dogs and ensure that pups getting groomed at the same time stay safe.
How to Carry Out a Pre-Groom Assessment: We’ll teach you to ask essential questions so that customers get the groom they want and so that you can advise them on what’s realistic for their pooch.
Dog Behaviour Basics: A crucial part of handling dogs is recognising common (and sometimes uncommon) behaviour. Because you’ll spend so much time around dogs, you’ll get lots of experience recognising when a pup is overly excited, timid or showing signs of aggression. We’ll also show you the best ways to handle these situations so everyone stays calm and happy.
Safe Dog Handling: We’ll teach you different leash techniques, lifting and separating dogs, so that all pups and handlers stay safe.
Health and Hygiene: Recognising illness is an essential part of being a daycare assistant, as is cleaning protocols to maintain a high level of hygiene and keep safe and smelling great.
