From The Home Laundry, To A Purpose Built Facility
The Dog Dazzler story began when we started Sam’s Dog Grooming from our home laundry, after Sam trained with award winning dog groomer Melanie Newman.
After seeing what Sam was achieving, and how much she loved doing dog washes and dog grooming, her sister Jennifer decided it would be a great career for her as well, and went on to train under Melanie Newman herself. From there, Jen went on to hone her skills at one of Melbourne’s well renowned dog spas in South Yarra.
5 years later, the clientele grew and the humble laundry wasn’t very practical so we decided it was time to relocate and rebrand. We changed our name from Sam’s Dog Grooming to The Dog Dazzlers, and for over 2 years we operated out of one of Australia’s leading pet shops where we became their leading dog groomers across Australia and New Zealand.
After 2.5 years, it was time to relocate again and this time we wanted to make sure we had full control over everything from floor to ceiling. In 2017, we moved to our purpose built facility in Burwood, Victoria offering one of the country’s most unique dog grooming and dog daycare experiences, right here in Melbourne!
Meet The Team
At The Dog Dazzlers, we have so many amazing team members from the front desk, to dog washing, dog grooming and dog daycare. Here are some of the managers and team leaders you probably know and recognise each time you visit!
Emma Pitman, General Manager
Emmas Career began in 2018 at a Boarding Facility which sparked her passion for the animal industry.
She has been working at The Dog Dazzlers since 2020 and oversees all day to day operations whilst managing our excellent team.
Emma is also a passionate photographer and is the one hidden behind the lens of all our fabulous photo prints, organises all our special events throughout the year, and also runs our social media pages including Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
Emma is also Mum to Dragon and Hank who you may see either running around daycare or being carried around along side their dad in reception.
Kit Lindsey, Floor Manager
Kits journey in the animal industry started as a bather here at The Dog Dazzlers. Since then he has discovered a new passion for animal behavior & training and working with dogs. After working in bathing, daycare and reception Kit was promoted to be our Floor Manager this year.
Kit is also Dad to Dragon the American Hairless Terrier & Hank the Boston Terrier.
Jen Hough, Head Groomer & Part Owner
After undergoing training with the renowned award-winning dog groomer, Melanie Newman, Jen’s passion for the animal industry was ignited.
With over 11 years of experience, Jen has been a dedicated member of The Dog Dazzlers family, serving as our exceptional Head Groomer.
But that’s not all—Jen’s love for animals extends beyond grooming. She also works as a Dental Hygienist at Canine Dental Hygiene Services, ensuring that our furry friends have healthy smiles.
And let’s not forget, Jen is also a proud fur parent to Boris the Pug x and Oaki the Standard Poodle.
Sam Hough, Founder & Dog Groomer
After training with award winning dog groomer Melanie Newman ‘Sam’s Dog Grooming’ was born, which you now all know as The Dog Dazzlers.
Not only does Sam have a strong passion for the animal industry, but she also has helped create a business that allows many of our staff follow their passion for animals.
Sam is also Mum to Barney the Schnoodle and Stuart the Brussels Griffon.
